Update, you can now also get on board with the new cross-promotion for Facebook connecting. Please use my name as your referral. Here is the link: http://womenpartner.org/40-women-to-cross-promote-with-on-facebook/

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can read a list of 40 savvy women who network on LinkedIn.com which was put together by Jerrilynn Thomas, founder of WomenPartner.org. Obviously, she is a phenomenal networker herself. And she is also a visionary with big vision to create strategic, targeted marketing and business news outlets worldwide which are also locally-based and focused on women-owned businesses.
If you are like me, I am sure that you also see the value in having this type of network to tap into, not just online, but also in your local region. If you would like to learn more, check out the article about those 40 savvy women here: 40 Women to Network With Today on LinkedIn
Oh, and thank you to Jerrilynn for the opportunity to be included on the list.
Leave a Comment: What do you think about what WomenPartner.org is doing?
Sincerely,
Donna Marie Johnson
I am very happy to see that Facebook has been making positive changes regarding protecting your privacy (or should I say they have been forced to make them via the settlement with the US Federal Trade Commission).
Check out this article to read more details and stay informed by subscribing to this online publication. These online news folks do a phenomenal job of keeping relevant, current news in front of you from the social media world:
“As far as Facebook’s users are concerned, I doubt they will notice any change after today’s development. Will there be complaints about Facebook with regard to privacy in the future? Of course. But the settlement provides a template for transparency, so when, say, Facebook’s facial-recognition software fully blossoms, you won’t start seeing your face in ads unless you opt-in. If Zuckerberg’s statement is any indication, Facebook appears to have learned a thing or two after setting off so many privacy tripwires over the years. And if it hasn’t, Uncle Sam is watching.”
My Comments orignally posted in May 2010:
Facebook holding staff meeting on privacy as criticism grows
My main concern with Facebook, in regards to the user experience, is that numerous minor and major changes have been made with little to no warning, consistently during the last few years, as FB’s had its highest growth.
Since I use it every day, and even all day long when I am working on projects, I would have noticed an announcement or two, if they were made. Why are the changes mostly made so secretly and privately when they have to do with making other private people’s information available publicly?
I believe that this is where we learn that nothing is ever truly free, even if the price is not readily evident.
I can honestly say that any future alternatives to Facebook that may arise would be fairly attractive to me and most of my contacts, as well. Privacy and freedom are interwoven, and I don’t know anyone who wants to completely trade them in just for a free online networking experience.
